GURDAN THOMAS is known for its imaginative music and storytelling. The lyrics are inspired by philosophy and the human condition, delivered in an acoustic folkpop style with a theatrical sprinkling and a good dose of barefoot dancing. The multi-instrumental collective is led by an English composer-songwriter based in Munich and Birmingham.
The collective recently signed to German label Beste! Unterhaltung and released their newest album on Vinyl & CD in June 2012. Other releases include ‘Adam & Steve’ (2011), ‘The Fat Lady Sings’ (2010 - Commercially Inviable), ‘Todd’ (2010 Commercially Inviable), ‘Gnodelly Gnodelly’ (2008) and ‘Graceful Rabbits’ (2007) Gurdan Thomas has evolved truly into a collective in their latest recording that was captured mostly live with 9 musicians, a choir and a ukulele orchestra at Highbury Studio, Birmingham.

First hearing is noted for the influence of reggae and ska to their music. But upon listening further, you quickly being to realise that there more, much more. 360 are an elaborate ‘mash up’ of mesmerising melodies and captivating choruses, generating a party atmosphere that lives on, long after the last empty glass has been cleared away.

Mr Shankly are a Ska Pop Reggae band that formed in 2009 in Birmingham with toolshop records in Selly Oak as its headquarters. Benjy Walsh (vocals, guitar) and Richard "Canadian" Western (bass, vocals) had been playing in local bands together for the past two years whilst setting up the toolshop rehearsal space and studio.
They had a vision of starting a SKA inspired band staying true to the 'rude boy' movement still strong in Birmingham and its surrounding areas. They set about recording there own songs for six months during 2009 and came up with the first demo ep 'Mr Shankly'. Songs such as "The Girl at the Bookies" and "Hey Ma" literally came out of nowhere. With the right tunes in place they then set about recruiting like minded musicians towards the end of the year. Lead guitarist Tim Botfield came on board in November ‘09 who brought his own vibes and ideas to the band. A chance meeting in a Birmingham music bar brought the last cog in the machine on board in the shape of Ilias Lintzos, an already established drummer back home in Athens who was looking to get into a band in England.
The four musical troubadours rehearsed religiously through the bleakest winter in living memory and started electrifying audiences of sell-out crowds in the midlands area with there own take on the SKA/Reggae music they all love. Now having found their feet the band, are ready to spread there wings further afield and take the music world by storm! Mr Shankly have a new member on Saxophone, Peter Lewis, a very talented performer from Birmingham who has his roots back to Jamaica.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market has become a huge favourite with both residents and visitors to the city from all over the UK and Europe. Combined with the city’s own Christmas Craft Fair of local traders, it offers a total of over 180 stalls to browse and enjoy.
Open daily from 15 November to 22 December, 10am-9pm, it is the largest authentic German market outside of Germany and Austria and is arguably one of the most popular Christmas markets in the UK.
Enjoy the feel of a small village within the heart of the bustling city centre, with picturesque wooden chalets offering traditional handcrafted gifts, including jewellery, wooden toys, dolls and candles.
Visitors’ senses will be delighted as they are invited to enjoy the Glühwein (German mulled wine), German beers, traditional sausages, meats, sweets, marzipans, breads and pastries.

Pete Dixon, Andy Bullock and Ralph Morton make up the aptly named Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam, whose stripped-down, bass-less set up enables them to bash out driving, gloriously widescreen alt. pop anthems at an alarming rate. With tracks evoking the best eras of Sebadoh and ‘Trail of Dead sieved through a modern, post-dreampop colander, SFL make you realise just how bad a job all of these NME-championed early 90s revivalists are doing at what they’re supposedly doing. This will be their first show, and we’re very excited about it.
Bombers
Bombers’ infectious, relentless music never becomes repetitive. With an insistent wave of sound bursting with hooks and energy that leaves no audience standing still, Bombers bring their music to life in frenetic and charismatic performances. Their dynamic interplay, driving rhythms and frenzied vocals made them one of Louder Than War’s top new bands for 2011 as well as ensuring a namecheck in Artrocker magazine. Their abstracted tales of psychodrama and claustrophobic love jostle with recollections of lost evenings in vacant outer ring-road motels.
